The People’s Run 2 Remember, the original Poppy Run, is a national series of fun runs launched in 2011 with the aim of raising awareness of and funds for charities supporting the services family. We are proud to be supporting ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity and Scotty’s Little Soldiers. Please visit the Our Charities page to find out more about these great causes.
Non-competitive and fun, the runs are open for all sections of the community to enter and run, jog or walk the 5k routes. One participant even got sponsored to crawl the whole 5k!
The People’s Run 2 Remember is a national event with a genuine community feel but with a serious message. After all, it is only thanks to those who gave that we have the freedom to organise and take part in such events at all.
In 2012 we held 10 runs across England and were privileged to also stage a special Poppy Run (as we were then known) for troops in Afghanistan. Now renamed the People’s Run 2 Remember we continue to grow eventually aiming to have a local run in every corner of the United Kingdom. Each People’s Run 2 Remember varies in size depending on things like venue capacity and location and may host anything from under 100 runners to more than 500.
The People’s Run 2 Remember is fast becoming an important part of local event calendars up and down the country. Our aim is for the People’s Run 2 Remember to continue growing while raising much needed funds for our official charities.
The People’s Run 2 Remember is organised and managed by People’s Events in partnership with our official charities, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity and Scotty’s Little Soldiers not forgetting the legion of volunteers up and down the UK (and overseas) without whom the event simply could not happen.
People’s Events is a not-for-profit social enterprise and exists with the sole intention of staging events to raise funds for and awareness of good causes.
People’s Events founder Jim Cowan has devised and launched a number of hugely successful charity events including the UK’s largest participation event The Race for Life. In fact events created, designed or managed by Jim and/or People’s Events have, so far, raised over £1 Billion for good causes.
People’s Events’ ethos for events is simple. What they are should be easily understood, they should be fun and at least one sector of society should benefit.
We believe The People’s Run 2 Remember delivers all three!
